Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

It was natural for me to have feelings for studying abroad while I started majoring in Japanese studies. For those majoring in Japanese studies, the opportunity to study in Japan will be the best experience to satisfy knowledge that cannot be filled with writing alone. Furthermore, I realized once again that it is really important to have a wider perspective and experience by majoring another major 'Public relations and dvertising'. So I was convinced that studying abroad was a necessary opportunity for me, who is very interested in video translation among media content expert things.

The field I want to study is translation. Translation means more than simply mechanically transferring one language to another. It seems simple to assimilate one culture into another, but I think it is a sophisticated and complicated task because it needs deep understanding of the cultures of both countries. In this age of increasingly active non-face-to-face related systems and the development of OTT services, the quality of translation provided by the media service cannot be reduced. Also, if translation does not properly reflect the original intentions, it is rude to the creator. However, there are parts of culture that cannot be mastered even if you study theory. Therefore, it is necessary that the experience of directly experiencing different cultures is necessary, and I believe that studying abroad will satisfy that aspect. Also, I would like to experience other countries and meet various people to broaden my sights.

At the same time, if you can directly experience and experience the Japanese cultural content industry, which is constantly being created and developed, and learn not only the positive side but also the negative side, it will be a good stepping stone for future content planning. It is the public and consumers who create and develop content. Therefore, in my thought, understanding the public is the foundation for creating good content. In actually, I wrote a report during a Korea college on why the Japanese "Gacha System" was able to be combined with consumer sentiment to popularize Gacha like this way. Therefore, I would like to learn about Japanese culture through lectures on media, content, culture, and the public at exchange schools. Also would like to study in depth why the atmosphere of media content is so different from that of Korea.

There have always been many things I would like to try when I go to Japan to study. Actually I don't think I can be very active because of the coronavirus, but I want to meet various people through part-time jobs and club activities or someelse. Also, I would like to help exchange students and those who are thinking about studying abroad like me by leaving my daily life on video and sharing it on YouTube. And whenever I have time, I will travel around and leave it in pictures. I want to experience various things such as joining the photography club and the theater club at the school where I am studying abroad.

Experience while studying abroad

Adjusting to Japanese life was faster than I thought. I think it's thanks to the student Voluntier who guided me to school when I first arrived, the kind school officials, the janitors and dorm staff, friends from the same country, and all the friends I met in class. I was busy traveling to various places and gaining experience, so I couldn't edit and upload a video of my daily life, but my goal is to complete the production of even one video before spring comes. Also, I would like to find a part-time job before the new semester begins. My school life is going well thanks to my friendly and understanding friends and teachers. I entered the photo club, which was my one of goal, and exhibited it during the festival, and I take turns posting pictures on Instagram with the theme every month. Also, a travel photo I posted on my personal Instagram was posted on Awajishima's official Instagram. Thank you for your consideration for the message very politely, and I came to think more seriously about photography that I used to do only as a hobby.
In addition, international students and students participated in a program to make confectionery together and had a fun experience, and among them, they became friends with the student who became a pair and became very close by hanging out together in private. I think we made a really good friend by sharing and interacting with each other's culture, helping her when she travels to Korea, and on the contrary, getting help from me. In addition to her, she made many friends interested in Korean through part-time language exchange jobs called TSL activities, and she also gave advice on exchange students to students who will come to Korea next semester. I am very happy to meet and become close to many friends in other classes. At first, the fact that there weren't many international students came as both expectations and anxiety, but now it's a great advantage because I found out that I'm more adaptable than I thought.
I have traveled to various places such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Nara, and I was always happy to feel the characteristics of each place. I am planning to go to Sapporo in February, and I want to go to various places more. Also, I took a lot of classes focusing on talking this semester, but next semester, I am thinking of taking a marketing or media class that I was interested in. Time seems to go by so fast because I'm having fun and fulfilling days. I want to enjoy the rest of the time without regret.

Results of study abroad, future goals

Of course, it is not easy to live in another country for a year. Although Korea and Japan are similar, they are completely different cultures and no one knows me here. In here, neighborhood with significantly fewer Korean speakers. I visit Japan only for traveling, so it was my first time living in real life, so of course, I had anxiety in my anticipation. But looking back on my past year, it was not depressing, not lonely, not too boring. I didn't really have daily conversations with Japanese locals before, and I didn't even have friends living in Japan, but I made various friends and traveled alone. I naturally laughed and talked with people I didn't know and enjoyed myself. I naturally realized that I was more adaptable and sociable than I thought. Self-efficacy came along on its own.

The main reason I decided to study abroad was to think about what I really wanted to do and whether I could live my life if I got a job in Japan. For him, I took classes that I was interested in, and I was able to learn basic graphic tools that I had never started alone. Making album jackets, animating picture books, making postcards… I got a lot of inspiration while taking various classes. I thought I am still interested at media contents, and also I could live long here.

Also, thanks to the scholarship support from HUMAP, I was able to travel to various places in Japan. I have a hobby in photography and video, so I was able to capture the beautiful scenery and memories of this year. It will take some time, but I hope I can share everything someday. Also, I am considering my career in photography and editing also because I am evaluated as talented in photography.

They were very busy and faithful days, but looking back, there is always something to be desired. The biggest regret is that I haven't had a part-time job. If I can live again next time, I want to work at an amusement park. I was really happy be able to meet various people, to see the beautiful sky every day and when I approach, there are people who are warm to me, all of those fill me up only good memories. Especially, thanks a lot to the teachers.

I had a good experience for one year that I will never forget. Thank you.
