Opportunity of the studying abroad, purpose

In the 21st century, as a multicultural society, education at the global citizen level is necessary to promote understanding of different cultures and multicultural coexistence. In this joint research, the researcher would like to present the study results on Japanese and Koreans’ thinking and lifestyles throughout the annual events. It is also meaningful to publish a book on modern Japan Korea, suitable for intercultural understanding for university student education in Korea and Japan.

Specifically, two studies were conducted. The first is a study on the understanding of Japanese and Korean cultures from the perspective of global citizenship. Second, research on the language and culture of Japanese and Koreans, including the culture of annual events, was conducted.

Japan and Korea are geographically and culturally close, and there are many elements that can coexist with each other. In particular, there are many elements of language and culture that can be communicated with each other on a daily basis. It is essential for Japanese and Koreans to understand each other's culture; in particular, living in the 21st century, they should mutually respect and share their knowledge. The researcher has been educating on modern Japan for a long time at a Korean university. However, in Korea, there are no suitable textbooks regarding modern Japan.
