About 2 or 3 years ago, I met an exchange student from Japan at the Japanese Language Club in the Taiwan University of Arts.
During the language exchange, I am more and more interested in Japanese culture.

It is short time to be a student in University, I think I should apply for an exchange student through the International Office of National Taiwan University of Arts before I graduate.

I think it will be a good chance if I could be an exchange student at Kobe Design University in Japan.

"Knowledge has no limit, but whenever you leave, trail remains behind." To be better in art craft, I should learn more and more technique and knowledge.

I thought that I can learn new knowledge more at the new school.
To broaden my horizon, I think it is necessary to look at the differences in landscape and culture, to be an exchange student is the exact chance to achieve the goal.

The book always says “Art is inspired by life”, I decide to go to Japan to experience a new life .I am look forward to a new life in Japan.

About 6 months living Japan.
In the pottery course at the university, the teacher taught me a lot of the skill for throwing on the potter's wheel.
I am studying how to make vases, bowls, and teapot.

In order to make better tea utensils,
I went to the tea ceremony in Kyoto with classmates,
I think that I can make better tea utensils by experiencing Japanese culture.

Except pottery class, I also learn what I haven't studied in Taiwan, such as blown glass, figure design and Japanese painting.
In the design class I sketched the flowers blooming along streets, the scenery of Japan, or the animals in the zoo.
When I was painting the scenery , I felt the beauty of Japan by sketching that I hadn't noticed in my daily life.

I have learned a lot for this one year.
Both my Japanese skill and craft technique improved a lot compared to what they were before the exchange program.
For example, in a pottery class I learn the pottery wheel to do the plate、 bowl 、vases teapot. And do the glaze potter by myself.

In addition to the pottery class at school, I also had chances to communicate with my teacher and friends so I could experience Japanese culture. We celebrated Christmas together and cooked Japanese Traditional New Year food. I also throw a Kansai-style Takoyaki party and joined other events with friends. I had a wonderful time in Japan and these experiences will become my precious memory.

My passion of Art Craft has been deepened through studying at Kobe Design University and communicating with Japanese people. And I also learned different ways of expressions through special technique and cultural exchange.
When I go back to Taiwan, I would like to continue my craft work with passion and I hope to become a ceramist in future .
